Garmin released their latest edition to the Golf range, the Approach S6 GPS golf watch equipped with high-tech features. The Approach S6 is the first-of-its-kind displaying advanced features like full course display, swing metrics and training tools in a sleek and light watch design. The Approach S6 can be used to improve golfers’ swing through consistency and synchronisation by using innovative swing features, such TempoTrainer and SwingStrength, making this compact watch an essential tool on the driving range, on the tee box and the green. The high-res colour touchscreen makes viewing the course maps so easy and with GreenView, Touch Targeting, and PinPointer golfer’s will have a better situational awareness on over 30 000 preloaded international courses. Golfers can now join the Garmin Connect community which will allow them to analyse, share and compare their round easily with their friends and golfing partners. With these truly innovative features and slick design optimised for performance, the Approach S6 provides golfers everything they need to take their game to the next level.

The Approach S6 is the first golf watch with advanced Swing Metrics, which include TempoTrainer, and SwingStrength. The Tempo feature measures the relationship between a golfer’s backswing and downswing, and displays this as a ratio. Studies show that a successful golf swing has an ideal ratio of 3:1. TempoTrainer uses the 3:1 ratio and guides golfers with audible tones in order to synchronise their swing mechanics and fine-tune their tempo during practice. The Approach S6 also features SwingStrength, which provides golfers with immediate feedback on their power percentage, helping them to understand how hard they hit each club and allowing them to gain a more consistent and controlled swing during practice.

With the new CourseView button, golfers can easily preview hole details like doglegs, bunkers, water hazards, and green shapes while Touch Targeting allows golfers to touch any point on the display to get the precise distance to that exact spot, whether it’s the fairway, hazard or green. In addition, the Approach S6 also has GreenView, which shows golfers the exact layout of the green and allows them to drag and drop the pin to the day’s location for the most accurate yardages. The Approach S6 even has PinPointer, which offers blind shot assistance, by providing an arrow pointing directly to the green. With this feature, golfers know exactly where to line up their shot, no matter if they are in the woods or deep in a bunker.

The Approach S6 also doubles as an electronic scorecard to save, review and share scorecards or stats. It also supports comprehensive Handicap Scoring, which provides handicap scoring options for various game types and allows adjustment for individual holes, golfer’s local handicap or index/slope methods. Golfers can easily sync their Approach S6 to Garmin Connect or through a smartphone to Garmin Connect Mobile, to upload, analyse and share their scorecards, as well as other data like fairways hit, greens in regulation, shot distance and number of putts. They can even analyse course data and see hole-by-hole details to understand their own trends and tendencies to improve their game. This is great to track golfers’ progress over time and to share the great joy of golf with friends and golfing partners.

The Approach S6 is water resistant to 50 meters and durable enough to withstand a rainstorm or a ride in users’ golf bags without fear of damage.
