Moore defends CIMB title to win two years in a row
The US PGA Tour was in Malaysia last week, where America's Ryan Moore successfully defended his 2013 CIMB Classic title in a three-stroke win over compatriots Kevin Na and Gary Woodland and Spain's Sergio Garcia.
The final round opened with Moore and Na tied for the lead with Na, but after eighteen holes of eventful golf – which saw him make eight birdies and three birdies – the American led the pack by three shots.
Moore's road to victory on Sunday was by no means easy, with stiff competition from Na and Woodland looking to settle an old score - Moore having beaten him in a playoff to win last year's title. Despite the pressure, Moore weathered the storm to retain a healthy lead through the back nine.
Sergio Garcia looked set to challenge Moore for the title on the front nine, but the Spaniard's charge never materialised and he was left with a share of second place alongside Na and Woodland. Australia's Cameron Smith and Bae Sang-Moon of South Korea shared third place, finishing five shots behind the champion.
Siem chips in for BMW Masters playoff victory
Germany's Marcel Siem overcame windy weather and a high-pressure final round to beat the Frenchman Alexander Levy and England's Ross Fisher in a three-way playoff at the BMW Masters on Sunday.
The trio were tied for the lead after eighteen holes of challenging golf. Windy conditions persisted for most of the day at Lake Malaren, testing the accuracy of every competitor on the course, setting the stage for a riveting playoff.
The first extra hole looked to be the end of Siem, as his ball veered into the rough while his two rivals found the green. As the crowd watched in suspense, Siem executed a perfect chip to land his ball in the cup and seize victory – proving once again that precision and a refined technique can save the day during a difficult round of golf.
