JOHANNESBURG (11 August 2014) – The Nedbank Golf Challenge will once again be one of the highlights of the local golf year, with the 2014 tournament to be played at Sun International’s flagship resort of Sun City from 4-7 December.

“Africa’s Major”, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and European Tour, will feature a world-class field of 30 players competing for a total purse of R6.5-million. The winner will again earn R1.25-million.

The field will be announced at a later date, as well as an entertainment line-up featuring a selection of South Africa’s leading musicians and comedians.

The preparations for this year’s event are in full swing, with the Gary Player Country Club now into an intensive 16-week programme of final conditioning.

“The field is taking shape very nicely and we’ve started the infrastructure build at Sun City. As always we like to bring in a few new elements each year, and I think golf fans are going to really enjoy what we have planned for this year’s tournament,” said Alastair Roper, Sun International’s Tournament Director of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
